Have you always wanted to learn how to sing or play an instrument? Are you not quite sure you have any musical talent but you're hoping to give it your best shot? Would you like to provide a quality musical education for your child that will aid them in academic achievement and lifelong enjoyment? Are you a serious student wishing to pursue a degree in music? Are you an adult wishing to gain back lost musical skills or attain new ones? If so, then you're reading the right section of this web site!
The Renaissance Center offers musical experiences for all ages and ability levels. From infants to adults, beginners to experienced musicians, music instruction and performance opportunities are found in abundance in our music department. Read on to find out how you can enroll in private or group lessons or participate in one of our music classes or community ensembles. If you have any questions or would like instruction on an instrument or style you don't see described, give us a call. We'll do our best to find a teacher for you!

ROCKSTAR Camp for Summer!

ROCKSTAR with Ashley Matte / RockSTAR Music Education

Professional rockers teach kids how to play the guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, compose songs, and perform classic Rock ‘n’ Roll hits. RockSTAR harnesses the cognitive, social and creative benefits of music education in a program that’s for ANYONE, because no previous experience is required! All instruments are provided. There will be a performance opportunity at the end of the class session. Get ready to ROCK, this is a guitar-wailing, bass-thumping, drum-crashing experience you won’t want to miss!!! Be sure to sign up now!

 NOTE: Band sizes are limited to 7 students, so don't hesitate to sign up now! All instruments are provided and NO previous experience is required to participate. Student limit 25. Ages: 1st - 8th grades.

PRIVATE LESSONS

Private lessons are available for several instruments (depending on the season and instructor availability), often including: banjo, bass guitar, drums, guitar (acoustic & electric), harmonica, mandolin, piano, music theory, viola, violin, cello and voice.

summer-clip-art SUMMER: Tuition for the 8-week Summer Semester: 30 minutes weekly = $140  / 45 minutes weekly = $210 / 60 minutes weekly = $280

Tuition for 15-week Fall & Winter Semesters:  30 minutes weekly = $262.50  / 45 minutes weekly = $393.75 / 60 minutes weekly = $525.00

The instructor or music department must fill out a Private Music Lesson Contract before new or returning students may register for private lessons. The contract obligates students to commit to a semester of instruction. Lesson times depend on instructor availability with returning students receiving first priority. Tuition does not include an instrument or the price of books or music necessary for instruction. Performance opportunities are available with formal recitals occurring at the end of the semester.

 
Please note: Payment (half or full) must be made prior to or on date of first lesson. Day and time of lesson must first be confirmed by instructor before payment is made. A fee of $35 will be charged for all late payments.

NEW MUSIC THERAPY CLASSES

NEW CLASS: Sunshine Group - Music and Movement for ‘Special Needs’ boys & girls with Melody Perrin, MT-BC, NMT. (grades K-12) Young (or Adolescent) participants, within the Special Needs community, will learn to explore and to apply the art of music – developing, maintaining, and/or restoring optimum levels of success or quality of life for both, the individuals involved and the interactive group as a whole.  Creating Whole Symphonies for the Body, Soul, Mind & Spirit. 

This is an 8-week class. Student limit 8. No Class July 4th makeup day August 1

MUS9901 (7th-12)      1:00 – 1:45 pm, Thursday June 6 – July 25            $90.00

NEW CLASS: Brave Hearts Group - Music and Movement for ‘Special Needs’ Adults with Melody Perrin, MT-BC, NMT. Participants within the Special Needs community will learn to explore and to apply the art of music – developing, maintaining, and/or restoring optimum levels of success or quality of life for both, the individuals involved and the interactive group as a whole. Creating Whole Symphonies for the Body, Soul, Mind & Spirit.  This is an 8-week class. Student limit 8.

Creating Whole Symphonies for the Body, Soul, Mind & Spirit.  This is an 8-week class. Student limit 8.

STRINGS ORCHESTRA PROGRAM
Strings Orchestra Class
 Ensemble Room
8-week group orchestra program for violin, viola and cello players.
Classical music and more! From Bach to Beatles!
 
$80 for 8-week program
This is also available as a "drop in" class for $12 a class.
 
Minimum requirements: be able to play G and D major scales and basic note reading.

 CHILDREN'S CHOIRS
Training Choir: Open to all 1st and 2nd graders without audition. Focus is placed on teaching the fundamentals of music reading and vocal technique. Choir meets Thursdays, 4 - 4:45pm. Free to participate.
Children's Choir: A treble choir for 3rd-7th graders. An audition is required. Choir meets Thursdays, 5 - 5:45pm. Free to participate.

ADULT CHOIRS
Adult Community Chorus: An opportunity for amateur or experienced adult singers to participate in a well-trained vocal ensemble. An audition is required. Chorus meets Thursdays, 7-8:15pm. Free to participate.
Adult Chamber Choir: A smaller ensemble created to perform more difficult choral pieces. An audition is required. Choir meets: Thursdays, 6-7pm. Free to participate.

The Community Band and Jazz Band Spring Concert:
Thursday, May 16, 2013, 7pm $5 tickets
Community Concert Band: A community ensemble open to all musicians from the amateur to the skilled professional. No audition is required, but participants must provide their own instrument and are encouraged to have a basic proficiency due to the level of quality literature performed in the group. Band practice: Tuesdays 6:30 - 7:45pm. Free to participate.
Community Jazz Band: A free community ensemble dedicated to the high quality performance of new and classic jazz standards. No audition is required, but participants must provide their own instrument and are encouraged to have a basic proficiency due to the level of quality literature performed in the group. Jazz Band practice: Tuesdays 8 - 9pm. Free to participate.
