CyberSphere Field Trip Information

Full Dome Animations are generally more educational, while Laser Shows are generally more for entertainment.

CyberSphere shows for field trip groups are $4 per student.

To make your field trip to the CyberSphere an enjoyable and memorable experience, please note the following rules and suggestions:

  • CyberSphere shows start promptly. There will be no late entry after the doors are closed due to the reduced light conditions. If someone leaves for any reason during a performance, they will not be re-admitted. (This means everyone in your group should visit the restroom before entering the CyberSphere.)
  • There is no food, drink, candy, chewing gum, etc allowed.
  • No photography is allowed. (Especially flash).
  • Cell phones must be turned OFF! The sound & light emitted from these devices will definitely adversely affect our programs and disturb other audience members.
Inform parents not to dress their children in shoes with flashing lights or any other light-producing source.
  • If teachers or parents have special seating issues, please resolve those issues before entering the theater. Advanced notice of special seating issues should be discussed upon scheduling your field trip.
  • Strollers, wheelchairs, crutches, persons who cannot negotiate stairs will enter the CyberSphere via the elevator on the second floor.
  • The CyberSphere is set to 68 degrees F. This is to protect the equipment. Persons sensitive to that temperature may want to bring a sweater (especially small children).
  • Laser shows and some parts of planetarium shows are loud. Volumes may not be adjusted too low or it will affect the show's quality. Persons sensitive to loud noises need to know this.
  • The CyberSphere is not a movie theater. It gets very dark. Even the aisle lights are not on during a performance.
  • Participants who are subject to motion sickness or have photosensitive epilepsy and/or are subject to seizures may want to avoid attending.

Cybersphere Warning

Persons who have photosensitive epilepsy or are subject to seizures due to flashing lights at certain light intensities and frequencies are cautioned that the planetarium does produce flashing, flickering and varying brightness level lighting effects between the frequencies of 5 to 30 flashes per second (hertz). These effects are produced by strobe, laser and various colored lights.
