The Renaissance Center is excited about the new Theatre Apprentice Program.

Students who have been selected for this program work as apprentices with the Theatre Department at The Renaissance Center through the next year, under the direction of Pacer Harp, Producing Artistic Director of Theatre, and the Theatre Department Staff. They will perform in and work behind the scenes on theatrical productions for field trips visiting the center as well as assist with productions in the Gaslight Dinner Theatre and the Renaissance Players community theatre series. This season's program is a perfect opportunity for home-school students to participate and expand their education in the arts. An additional program will be offered in the summer so regular students will be able to attend.

“Our newly formed Apprentice Company will give students a chance to experience the day-to-day requirements of being part of a professional theatre company,” Harp said. “These apprentices will be rehearsing and performing in multiple plays and working behind the scenes to prepare the productions, while being tutored by our staff of Theatre professionals.”

Interested applicants must contact Pacer Harp to register: 615-740-5550 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

To apply: All students should create a resume of theatre experience, and write a short essay (no longer than one page) about what they would like to learn from this program. Students wishing to perform are invited to audition with a short song and/or a short monologue (no longer than one minute each). Students wishing to concentrate only on Technical Theatre will be given a formal interview with members of the Technical staff.

Seeking actors of all Ethnicities. Themes for the Spring Semester include Ethnic Diversity/Civil Rights/Inclusion. Many roles available for Ethnic/African American Actors of all ages.

The Apprentice Company is an unpaid program - Compensation will be the experiences gained by working with professional theatre artists, and is ideal for local young students.

All those interested must have daytime availability for rehearsals, performances and tech hours. Rehearsals are typically held Monday - Friday during the day (no weekend rehearsals) beginning four-five weeks before Opening Day. Performance dates are listed below.
