| ART CLASSES FOR THE KIDS |

Just the Two of Us with Sarah Stob (ages 2-6)
Youngsters and adults will create a variety of crafts and art projects that are age appropriate. This class is a child’s introduction to Art. Art plays an important part in developing a child’s readiness to learn. Student Limit 12

Artful Adventures with Sarah Stob (ages 5- 8)
Young artists will be given the opportunity to explore their own creativity through a wide variety of art experiences. Students are exposed to new art mediums and techniques. Student limit 12.

2-D Art for Teens with Michelle Lambert (age 10 – 15)
Here’s a fun class for creative kids who love spending time in the art studio! We’ll cover a range of media including paints, graphite, charcoal & pastels, pen & ink, collage, and printmaking. Beginners welcome!

Another fun class for creative kids who love spending time in the art studio! We’ll be sculpting with ceramics, paper mache, dioramas and more. Beginners are welcome!

ADULT CLASSES

Beginning Photography (Instructor TBA) In this course students with no formal photography experience are invited to get to know those mysterious manual functions on the camera. You will learn how to creatively control the look of your images by getting to know the functions on your camera. Through weekly assignments, field trips, and discussions you will gain confidence and comfort with the possibilities of your camera.
UPDATE: This class has moved to the conference room in the Administrative Office area - near Doug Jackson's office.

Photography Using PhotoShop Cs5 or Higher - now with Mike Gannon In this course students will explore various themes, problems, and discourse in digital photography. We will cover theory and practical applications through discussion, demonstration, and weekly assignments. Students will be expected to shoot and produce samples of their work on a weekly basis. A digital SLR and laptop with Adobe Photoshop Cs5 or higher is necessary for this class. Students of all levels are welcome.

Intro to Alternative Process Photography with Catie Sampson In this course, students will learn to execute three historical photographic processes: cyanotype, Van Dyke brown printing, and salt printing. The course will cover brief histories of each process, including exemplary works produced by contemporary and historical artists, as well as hands-on studio applications. Students will also learn how to produce large format inkjet negatives for use in many alternative processes. Access to a computer and inkjet printer required. Student limit 12. Portrait Drawing with Jammie Williams
UPDATE: Combined this class with Portrait Sculping - now on Thursdays.
This class will focus on drawing the portrait from the live model. Students will be taught various aspects of drawing the portrait such as the basic shapes and planes of the head, basic facial anatomy, proportions and perspective, line, value, light and shade. exploration of different media will also be encouraged.

Portrait Drawing & Sculpting with Jammie Williams
(now combined Drawing & Sculpting - on Thursday at 5:30 - 8:30)
This course offers students the opportunity to create portraits in clay from a live model. Students will learn the basic masses and planes of the face and head, proportions as well as basic anatomy. Through measurements and direct observation, students will work towards achieving a likeness. The tools and techniques of modeling the portrait will also be taught as well as learning how to prepare each piece for firing.

Watercolor Painting (Adults: Beginning & Intermediate) with Jolene Clement
Let go of any preconceived ideas about watercolor painting with this easy step-by-step approach using new, experimental techniques, as well as traditional ones. Opaque and transparent painting examples will be demonstrated. Each individual student will be guided at his/her own level of skill and encouraged to express their creativity. In addition to the step-by-step demonstrations given by the teacher, there will be the availability of discussion and demonstrations of painting from photographs or still life. Everyone is encouraged to start collecting your photographs and ideas. Students may bring their own supplies and may borrow some supplies or special materials.

Acrylic Painting with Patricia Hudson
This class will begin with a landscape/skyscape painting created by following a step-by-step process demonstrated by the instructor. Design basics, color mixing, and using lights and shadows will be important. The second painting will be a still life painted on gesso covered board, followed by projects using methods of texturing, building layers of paint and usage of other painting tools.

How to Draw or Paint Anything with Terry Donaldson
Still life, figure drawing, landscapes, charcoal, graphite, pastels. How do you draw/paint that? Now is the time to learn how to draw or paint anything. This course is designed so students can come to a class with an idea they want to draw or paint. That idea can then be discussed and implemented by the student with help from the instructor. So pick a medium, pick a style and come create. Student limit 12.

Pottery with Joshua Houben (Wed & Thurs pm classes. Morning classes: TBA)
Imagine a place where beginners & longtime students can come together and receive personal one-on-one instruction. Where you are encouraged to bring your interests & personality to each class. Weather creating functional pottery, altered forms or strictly sculptures each class prepares you with a weekly demo on the fundamentals you need to grow on as a potter. With a well equipped studio, hand builders and wheel throwers have room to explore new ideas. Our studio houses over 25 glazes, a spray booth, large slab roller, extruders, tools for textures and much more. Students must purchase clay. Student limit 7.

Intermediate to Advanced Photography with Bob Schrader
Students will be challenged to produce photographs at a high quality level. The emphasis will be digital, but film shooters are welcome. Those choosing to shoot film will be responsible for their own processing and printing. ART9550-18 Sat, 10:30 am – 12pm $130
