MICHAEL FARADAY SCIENCE THEATRE: Meet The Scientist:
Grades K-2
Students will answer basic questions about what a scientist is. What does a scientist look like? Where does a scientist work? What does a scientist do? Who are some famous scientists? Students will test their senses, perform an experiment and learn the necessary safety precautions taken by a scientist.
.
Science Around the House:
Grades 4-6
Students will create a definition of science and learn how common objects and materials from around their own homes can be used to demonstrate scientific terms and principles such as inertia, air pressure, refraction, etc. . Sounds Like Science
Grades K-6
Students will discuss sound, sound waves, frequency, pitch, and resonance. Volunteers from the audience will participate in using coils, Slinkys, a tuning fork, a singing pipe, a flame tube, and an oversized model of the human ear. If time allows, chosen students will play a song or two using Boom Whackers. If any teachers are willing, they can inhale some helium from a balloon and sing a song! Their vocal cords will be demonstrating all the topics covered in the 45-minute show! . Components of a Flame
Grades 4-6
Through hands-on activity, students will learn the three components of a flame (oxygen, fuel, and heat), discuss how to extinguish a flame, compare different kinds of fuel and learn how to separate a flame. The childhood, youth, and education of Michael Faraday, the 1800s scientist for whom the theater is named, will also be discussed. .

CYBERSPHERE DIGITAL THEATER Kaluoka'hina, The Enchanted Reef
Kaluoka’hina, the Enchanted Reef is the first “family entertainment” feature film produced originally for 360o dome projection cinemas. The teacher’s guide contains exciting background information about themes such as coral reefs, volcanism, kelp forests, and bioluminescence, as well as about the interplay between marine fauna and
planetary constellations. This companion booklet serves as an info source for all who are interested in these topics, but it may also be used to acquaint students with themes that appear in the movie. Nonetheless, the teacher’s guide stands by itself as an educational resource independent from the movie. |
