Dance for Fitness with Davileen Long No partner or previous experience needed! This class is perfect for anyone wanting to take advantage of the many benefits of dancing but worried that without a partner, learning to Cha Cha, Swing, or Salsa would not be fun. In this course, students will be introduced to various patterns and rhythms from several of the Latin Dances. Each new step will be broken down at a slow beginning pace then; will speed up progressively throughout the class. This is not an aerobic or Zumba class. Students will learn actual patterns of Latin Dances that could easily be adapted to partnership dancing. |
This class is designed as an entry level course to basic Ballroom Dancing. No previous experience is required but partners are encouraged for this course group. Students will be introduced to four of the most popular social dances; Waltz, Rumba, Foxtrot, and Swing. Two to three patterns in each dance will be presented with special attention given to partnership and music identification. By the end of this class, students will feel comfortable leading and following the patterns presented and confident in their abilities to identify starting beats, count music, and correctly select the appropriate dance in respect to the music. |
Intermendiate Ballroom with Davileen Long Students already familiar with basic patterns and concepts of dance are encouraged to participate in this intermediate class. Additional patterns of increased complexity will be established and more attention will be placed on proper technique and partnership skills than in beginning levels. Due to the advanced nature of this class, students will focus on two primary dances during this course, one smooth and one rhythm. |
