Field Trips to the Center

Field Trips to The Renaissance Center

The Renaissance Center offers a variety of educational and entertaining field trip activities such as art and music workshops, live theatre, science theatre and planetarium and laser music shows available to schools and other groups. Our field trips are unique, hands-on, curriculum-specific experiences offered at affordable prices.

Field trips are available Wednesday-Friday, 8 am-4 pm. There are no field trips scheduled on Mondays or Tuesdays.

A minimum of 25 students is required to schedule a CyberSphere show or Faraday Science Theatre show that is not already booked. Smaller groups may combine with a field trip already on the schedule. Additional adults, accompanying school groups, must be counted in the total number to take advantage of group pricing. For all other organizations, please contact the field tip office for pricing. For a group to reserve seating in a show venue, a completed contract or deposit is required.

Adult chaperones (teachers included) are calculated on a one per ten ratio, and are admitted FREE. Parents, siblings, and other adults may be included in a school field trip reservation, but fees must be paid in advance to the classroom teacher. Permission to attend with a school group is determined by the teacher and participating school.

Groups that choose to eat lunch while at the Center, should provide their own sack lunches or purchase pizza through the Center. Two lunchrooms that seat approximately 140 students each are available to be reserved at no charge. If the weather is favorable, there are also outdoor lunch options.

Field trip activities support the Common Core State Standards by introducing themes that are relevant to visual arts, language arts, and/or social studies curricula.

All field trips must be scheduled at least 2 weeks in advance. Spaces are limited; early booking is highly recommended.

Please note:  Allow one hour per venue. Due to our booking process, your shows may not be seen in the order selected. We will make every effort to ensure that you see the programs chosen within your time allowance.

To qualify for the school rate a group must fall into one of the following categories: accredited school, preschool, year-round daycare, head start program, or organized home school.

Groups must have at least 25 students to reserve a show venue or at least 10 students for a fine arts workshop activity.

Extra chaperones (exceeding 1/10 ratio) may be asked to sit at the back of the theater venues, separate from the students. The purpose of this action is to allow the children to enjoy a show without their view being obstructed.

Parents that have not paid in advance through the school will pay the public admission price onsite for the scheduled venues and will have to wait until all other groups are processed. Seating is not guaranteed without prepayment. Public admission pricing for a field trip show venue is $8.00.

NOTE:  Groups whose numbers fall below 25 for a show venue are subject to regular admission prices.

Cancellation of a field trip, due to inclement weather, should be made no later than 8:30am the day of the field trip, so as not to incur further charges in the rebooking process. Cancellation, for any other reason, does not exclude the school/organization from a percentage payment, if made less than a week prior to your visit.
